The Class is based on the book by a French schoolteacher Francois Begaudeau, Directed by Laurent Cantet. Begaudeau plays himself the teacher in the film, the story is set in a public school in Paris which tackles very specifically French ideas of race, identity and education in urban classrooms. The inspirational teacher faces daily challenges from verb conjugation and to maintain student discipline, and the difficulties of immigrants who seems unable to connect to anyone around them.
