“Street With A View” is first-ever artistic involvement with Google Street that made its debut on the web recently, the artist Ben Kinsley and Robin Hewlett are behind this project. On May 3rd 2008, they invited the Google Inc, the Street View team and residents of Pittsburghs North side to collaborate on a series of tableaux along Sampsonia Way. The neighbors, and other participants from around the city, staged scenes ranging from a parade and a marathon, to a garage band practice, a seventeenth century sword fight, a heroic rescue and much more. The spectacular show reflects the pseudo-street life with incredible cast of real-life characters and their contribution that transformed the street view into a living art project.
Street View technicians captured 360-degree panorama with the scenes in action and integrated the images into the Street View mapping platform. You can checkout the scene, the participant page and the video documentation to learn more about the show and about the artists and participants that made it possible.
